To choose the right ones, you must know what kind of faceless content you want to create and the steps to building your channel.

To make it easier, I’ve put together a list of the 10 best tools. Once you master these, you'll be well-positioned for success. But first, how do you build a faceless channel from scratch?

6 Necessary Steps to create a faceless YouTube channel

Step 1: Find Your Niche

Picking the right niche is super important for your channel's long-term success. Think about your interests, audience demand, and how much YouTube ads will pay per 1,000 views, but also consider other ways to make money. Ad revenue is just the starting point and isn’t a solid way to earn money forever. Ask yourself if your faceless niche can help you make money from affiliate marketing, sponsored content, and selling digital products.

Here are some popular faceless niches you can start with:

  • Motivational content:

This content is evergreen; motivational quotes and stories from years ago can still resonate and go viral today. You don't need to keep up with the latest trends or news. Plus, the universal appeal of motivation means your audience is broad and diverse, giving your channel more potential to grow and succeed without ever showing your face.

  • Story about life, wisdom and relationship:

Everyone loves a good story. People are naturally curious and want to know how it ends. Stories are like a chain of events. Each part is connected to the one before, so viewers can't skip if they want to get the whole story. The more they watch, the more money you earn.

  • Language learning:

After researching 5,000 language YouTube channels, I realized that language learners are patient and dedicated. They don’t need flashy videos since they’re more focused on listening and doing exercises. They listen to videos everywhere—in their free time, before bed, and even while sleeping.

Step 2: Create Your Channel

You need to upload a profile picture and banner, set the name, and write a quick description about your channel, like what content you offer, your niche, and why viewers should subscribe.

Use Canva to design your YouTube cover and picture. For the description, you can use ChatGPT with this prompt: 'Help me write a concise description for a YouTube channel about [your niche].

Step 3: Write Engaging Scripts

If you’ve spent hours sifting through websites and still don’t know how to start your script, try ChatGPT. It helps you craft content that's clear, engaging, and optimized to captivate your audience. Plus, it saves you time and effort.

Step 4: Generate Visuals

You can use aesthetic stock footage from lots of free sources like Canva, Pexels, Pinterest, Social Stocks, Content Cove, and more.

But the thing with stock footage is that so many people use it, making it tough for your content to stand out. Stock footage is often generic and lacks a consistent style or characters, making it difficult to connect and build a community.

Even though we’re talking about faceless videos, it doesn’t mean just throwing random stock footage together. You need to curate it to maintain a brand identity and a voice that your audience will recognize as yours. This can be a specific color scheme, recurring characters, consistent fonts, or a unique editing style.

That's where AI text-to-video tools like Zebracat come in. They let you create videos with AI visuals or avatars, keeping a consistent look and feel across your faceless channel.

Step 5: Voice-Overs

So now, all the tough parts like scripting, setting up the background, and filming are done, and you're left with the voiceover. You can record your own voice, but this can also take a long time. Imagine having a script that's 10 minutes long; if you stumble over some parts, you have to record again. I tried it, and it took me around 4 hours to finish, and the quality wasn’t great.

As a non-native speaker, it's tough for native speakers to understand my pronunciation, so AI voice overs are a great option. Just copy the script and use an AI tool to turn it into a voiceover. This also helps you avoid stumbling over your script. You can even clone your voice to make it sound like you.

Step 6: Optimize and Promote Your Videos

Once your video is ready, it’s time to optimize it for search engines and promote it across various platforms. Use relevant tags, create catchy titles, and share your content on multiple social media channels to attract more views and subscribers.

Whoops, it turns out there's a lot of work involved in running a faceless channel.

If you edit videos yourself, you can never create content fast. As a faceless content creator, it takes me 3 to 4 days to finish a 10-minute video. Many people think faceless videos are quick and easy, but that's only true if you have a team or powerful tools. Without showing your face, you rely on music, sound effects, a strong script, and voiceover to convey emotions and attract subscribers. This means spending more time finding the right stock footage, adding effects, and editing.

But don’t worry, I’ll list the best 10 AI text-to-video tools for you. These tools are crucial when you're starting out and can't afford to hire help.

3. Script Writing  - ChatGPT

You guys all know ChatGPT and how it can help you create scripts super fast, right? I also use ChatGPT for making scripts for my faceless YouTube channel. But here’s the thing, ChatGPT isn’t that great if you don’t really know how to give it instructions. I remember so many times I had to tell ChatGPT the same thing over and over because it tends to forget if I don’t keep reminding it.

ChatGPT is not as smart as people think. But I’ve got a trick that makes ChatGPT do what I want without repeating myself a million times. Build your own ChatGPT! When you set up and configure it, all your messages will follow the rules you set. No need to craft messages over and over, just open that ChatGPT, and you’re good to go. It’s like buying an app from someone else, but now you can customize it to work exactly how you want.

It took me almost a year to discover this powerful function of ChatGPT. If you want the link to my ChatGPT, just shoot an email to support@zebracat.ai, and I’ll send it over to you.

But remember, you'll need to fine-tune it to make it sound more human. ChatGPT can quickly draft or summarize information for you, saving you from sitting in front of your computer for hours. Use ChatGPT to write faster, but don’t rely on it completely for an engaging script.

To help you humanize your script and make it more conversational, we’ve created a custom ChatGPT just for you, for free. Simply paste the script generated with ChatGPT, and this tool will help you make it more engaging and natural. I use this tactic for my social media content to create original scripts faster, avoiding the repetitive robotic language of standard ChatGPT like 'Buckle up, folks!' (It makes me allergic 😫).

4. Voiceover Tools - Elevenlabs

If you want to make AI voiceovers more realistic or even clone your own voice, ElevenLabs is a top option. It has a huge library of human-sounding voices and lets you adjust the tone and energy by tweaking the settings. You can also provide instructions within the script to make sure the voice matches your desired style.

For example:

This is the original script: "Only do this if you want to grow your social media faster. If you don't want to do that, keep scrolling."

This is the script after I gave instructions to make the voice more emotional: "Only do this if you want to grow your social media faster. If you don't want to do that, keep scrolling." - He stresses every single word at the beginning to capture people's attention. And he delivers the last part in a threatening tone, implying that if people scroll away, they will miss out on success.

5. Thumbnail Designing tools - Canva

If you want high click-through rate thumbnails but don’t have the skills to edit them yourself, use Canva. Canva has tons of ready-to-use templates that you just need to tweak a bit for your video. My advice is to avoid using very common thumbnails. Sure, some channels go viral with generic ones, but that's mostly luck. To compete, you need something that stands out and is different. It’s also a great way to learn over time. If you don’t have money at the beginning, use that time to upgrade as many skills as you can.

I also have a YouTube channel that I grew to 8K subscribers in just 2 months. What I learned most from the process was how to strategize my content, design thumbnails, and which AI tools to use. Then, I offered my knowledge and skills as a service on Upwork and built my own agency.

6. Tools to Find Stock Images - Pexels

Pexels is a free platform that many content creators use to create viral videos on YouTube. Make sure to name your files clearly so you don’t have to search Pexels again when you need footage for another video.

Apart from Pexels, you can get footage from other content creators who offer them for free. You can also buy organized file folders from Gumroad, like this one: Essential Pack. This pack helped me land a video editing client worth $3000 per month, in addition to my YouTube ad revenue. I bought it, and now I don’t need to find and organize footage files by myself anymore.

7. Video Editing Tool - Capcut

If you need to edit something quickly or adjust things that other AI tools lack, you can use CapCut. It's free and has a ton of templates for animated captions, stock footage, stickers, effects, and transitions. But don't assume using CapCut will save you a lot of time. Unless you know what you're doing, it can take 8 to 16 hours just to finish a one-minute video. I've experienced it, and I feel that using CapCut isn't the fastest way to create faceless videos. This is especially true if you see creating a faceless channel as a side hustle and don't want it to impact your main job.

8. Tools to Find Audio - Youtube or Epidemic Sound

Audio can be background music, transition sound effects, or other types of sounds that provoke audience emotions and keep them hooked on your videos. Sound effects make the audience feel like they are hearing the droplet of water, the footsteps of someone walking, or the heartbeat in a stressful story. They can totally immerse themselves in the world you create through various senses, not just their eyes, and forget the real world. This makes them consume more and more of your content, becoming addicted to your videos. Using sound effectively is one trick to help you gain longer watch times. Here are two sources you can check out for great audio:

Epidemic Sound

If you aim to have high-quality sound effects for your faceless YouTube channel and avoid copyright issues, Epidemic Sound is your go-to. It offers over 30,000 royalty-free tracks and more than 60,000 sound effects. You can find the type of music or sound effects you like by tweaking the settings. Epidemic Sound also lets you create a collection of music and sounds you frequently use.

And guess what? You can earn money from Epidemic Sound through their affiliate program if your audience likes the way you add sound effects and background music.

YouTube Audio Library

If you don’t want to pay for audio, you can use YouTube’s Audio Library, which is copyright-free. I've seen a lot of people use this music and go viral. I regret not knowing about this sooner. But you’ll have fewer options compared to Epidemic Sound. The Audio Library is great for beginners, but once you're ready, you might want to upgrade to Epidemic Sound for more variety and higher quality.

9. Analytics tool - YouTube Studio

Last but not least, you can only ensure your faceless YouTube channel is successful if you pay attention to the metrics because the numbers tell the truth. If your videos aren't getting many views, see if they're boring and making people drop off in the first few seconds. Look at the comments, likes, and shares – if there aren't many, ask yourself why. Also, check how many people click on your thumbnail; if the numbers are low, it might be time to change your thumbnail or title. You can find all this information by checking the numbers in the Analytics tab in YouTube Studio.
